PEERS
PEERS, or Personal Enrichment and Education through Respite Services, offers socialization through activities—dining out, movies, shopping, arts and crafts, and sports, and provides respite (time off) for caregivers.
Meaningful activities—both integrated and specialized—can have a positive impact on the lives of persons with disabilities and their families/caregivers. Activities are usually held on weekdays in the late afternoon or evening, and on weekends throughout the year. There is no fee to the individuals who participate in the service except for the cost of the activities that they select and are scheduled to attend.
To join PEERS, a Registration Form must be completed and an interview take place if the individual does not already receive Individual and Family Support or Residential Services through CCARC.
For a slight additional cost, door-to-door transportation is usually available for those living within the New Britain/Berlin and surrounding areas. Transportation and community safety skills and support are provided as needed.
Email PEERS for more information.
