From The Board President

As the year closes, it is customary to look back and reflect on the events that shape an organization. We look at the highs and lows as a chance to be proud of what we’ve accomplished and also examine areas in which we might be able to do better. Both help us to be an exceptional organization dedicated to providing the best-possible services and realizing our mission: To Make Dreams Happen.
Heading into 2009, however, we find ourselves in a very unenviable position. As the State of Connecticut enters into a financial period unlike any in memory, organizations like CCARC are having to survive on a 0% increase in funding, putting significant strains on the organization, particularly on the programs and services it provides. Fortunately, CCARC is blessed with a solid base of donors who have given of their time and money in a consistent and generous fashion. Recently, we mailed our Making Dreams Come True appeal letter and highlighted that every gift allows CCARC to continue to provide each individual with significant opportunities for a full and successful life. We also focused our attention on BJ, a 34-year-old man in our care, and the impact CCARC has had on his life—just one example of how your gift can help improve the lives of those in our care.
During this holiday season, we hope that you will remember those less-fortunate and consider making a gift to CCARC. Together we can succeed in “making dreams happen.”
