Clinical
CCARC offers a broad spectrum of clinical services and is one of just a few Connecticut agencies that has a group home with a “signing staff” for residents with hearing impairments. CCARC also provides support for blind individuals with mental retardation.
Clinical Services uses a person-centered plan for the healthcare and behavioral services of its participants. Modification plans for each individual include strategies and coping skills to build on strengths and foster growth. Plans emphasize a proactive approach and enhancing social and communication skills.
Behavioral Services
The agency's two behaviorists collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists and clinicians to create effective and innovative plans that promote optimal quality of life and encourage maximum independence for individuals. The behaviorist is also available to consult with other community agencies on the training, design and implementation of habilitation programs.
Nursing
Healthcare needs are monitored round the clock by nursing staff which includes a full-time Registered Nurse and two Licensed Practical Nurses. This team monitors the healthcare plans of group home residents, provides support and trains staff in the administration of medications and other healthcare-related duties, and consults on medical issues for CCARC Day Service participants.
