Adult Residential

Adult Residential Services supports more than 65 persons with developmental challenges in 14 community-living arrangements (CLA) and several supported living arrangements (SLA). Individuals must be 18 years of age or older.

These well-maintained, family-style homes offer residents the opportunity to acquire and refine life skills to promote independence in comfortable and secure environments.

Skilled Residential Service Instructors provide training in all aspects of daily living and community interaction. These experiences enhance the development of residents not only as individuals, but also as members of society.

An SLA or Supported Living Arrangement is an independent-style living opportunity for those with disabilities. Individuals live in their own home in the community, alone or with a roommate of their choice.

SLAs are coordinated through the Connecticut Department of Mental Retardation with CCARC providing assistance in budgeting, menu planning, food purchases and preparation, connecting to family and community leisure activities, and assistance with health issues or other areas.

Adult homes are licensed and funded through Connecticut’s Department of Mental Retardation and Department of Social Services.
